Record results for JYSK Belgium in challenging year

Even though the majority of 2020 has been very challenging for retail, many customers in Belgium have chosen to shop at the Scandinavian retail chain JYSK to improve everyday life in their homes, both inside and outside.

As part of the governmental restrictions due to coronavirus, all JYSK stores in Belgium were closed for almost 2 months. This posed a challenge both financially and logistically, as JYSK saw a large increase in online orders, while stores were closed. During the summer, however, customers returned to JYSK stores, as many restrictions were eased throughout Europe.

As a result, JYSK Belgium has delivered the company’s best results ever with a turnover of35,2 million euro. This is an increase of 44,3%, respectively, compared to the previous financial year.

“The number of customers and sales are above all expectations this year. Our seamless shopping concept, where online and offline shopping are well-coordinated, and the competent and friendly staff have proven to be of great value for an easy and safe shopping experience” said Frank Christant, Country Manager of JYSK in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Especially within categories such as in- and outdoor furniture, decoration and mattresses sales have gone up during the last year.

The positive results from JYSK in Belgium are part of a greater success story, as JYSK, which in total operates almost 3,000 stores in 51 countries, announced record results with a total turnover of 4,1 billion euro and an EBIT result of 489 million euro.

The first JYSK store in Belgium opened in 2017 and JYSK now has 27 stores in Belgium.
